Merthyr Tudful Powers That Be Have Not Over The Years Been Fourth Coming In Commemorating and Celebrating one, if not most signifigant event in the Town's history that of the 1831 Merthyr Rising, the Dic Penderyn memorial placed on the Town Hall was all down to Welsh Republican Cliff Bere and the Weatherspoon Pub in it's name Dic Penderyn have in the main marked this history of 1831 publically. The Powers That Be, seem to fear that the if the 1831 Rising was more publically marked it would not do the Town any good, how odd that in Austrailia a similar Workers Insurrection known as Eureka Stockade, Ballarat has this history made central to the Town's History Heritage Showcase, even the Town's Tourism, so why not Merthyr the same? The Town Centre regeneration provides opportunity for doing the 1831 Rising more proud than thus far with the planned Square I suggest being named Plas 3 Mehefin 1831 or why not Sgwar Lewysyn yr Heliwr, why Dic Penderyn all the time when it's Lewis Lewis was hero of this Workers Insurrection. Close by the Town Hall could have a room set aside as a Canolfan 1831 to tell the story much has the Eureka Stockade Centre tells the story of that insurrection. That's just for starters, then not least a Statue of Lewsyn yr Heliwr and Workers attacking the Castle Inn plus lots of plaques and murals around the Town to compliment an 1831 Merthyr Rising History Trail. Go and just look at all Newport has done to commemorate and celebratec the 1839 Chartist Rising, why is Merthyr so shy about it's 1831 Rising? Last but not least what Merthyr needs then is something similar to 'Blood On The Southern Cross' as central part of a week long 1831 Festival of Welsh Workers History of Struggles and Strilkes called 'Bara Neu Wae'd or 'Trech Gwlad Nag Arglwydd'.
