A Welsh Radical PLatform: containing information on history of peoples popular and radical political struggles in Wales, verity of articles with similar themes plus promoting peoples history projects to persue. Not least, radical initiatives for those with an interest in persueing more of an Adfywiad Goch Cymru than a patriotic or republican resurgence.
To Mark 25th Anniversary of 'When Was Wales' and the 'Dragon Has Two Tounges' Michael Ryan and Colin Thomas will show excerpts from the programmes and will lead a discussion on the impact of Gwyn's work.
A Free Event - All Welcome.
I am not going to make above event unfortunatly but maybe someone could during the discussion suggest/propose that in Gwyn's memory this event becomes an annual Weekend Workers Remembrancers College with lectures, seminars and workshops all with purpose of preparing future 'Red Remembrancers' to carry on Gwyn's labours for Wales and our Workers, People, Communities and Country as well as International Solidarity. Work carried out as much in the work place and community as places of Academia.

Where Once Wales and Socialists in Wales would once upon a time lead in struggle against Tyranny, Oppression and Exploitation, in this year of the 100th Anniversary of the Tonypandy Riots of 1910 we are more likly to see Wales organising dramatisations and musicals of the past than organising present day real radical resistence to the Tory War on Wales!

Interesting stuff, whilst the Cultural Nationalist Pacifists and 'Left of Left' in Wales gets all hot under the collar about the now dumped St Athan Military Academy, the celebration of a previoius episode of English Military Occupation is motivated to grab a grant to organise a walk and some theatre. How wonderful, I do not entirely oppose but I suspect that Native Americans and other 'Indigenous Peoples' would have gone and first and foremost occupied, if only in symbolic protest the existing 'Military Village' on Epynt, why not? Further to this, this month we have Theatre/Musical representation of the Newport Rising 1839, Tonypandy Riots 1910 and next year same is very much planned for the commemoration of the Llanelli Riots 1911 all with a lot of associated historical presentations and representations, see link below:

Great Stuff and needed, but! but! but! I am reminded what Gwyn Alf Williams had to say about post Industrial Wales becoming one great post Industrial theme park. He was very disparaging of all this but it seems inevitable that our not too distant history has become in main politically nuetral 'Herian style' Tourism and Theatre without any real political purpose as a really radical Welsh Red Theatre might have, but then that too is very much in the past? However, it does not have to remain there, all we need are radicals with acting talent and more interested in the Socialist Wales Struggle than grabbing grants, although that's alright for the community to persue, if that's what it takes to commemorate towards collective good end purpose of promoting knowledge of history and past struggles. However, not that alone, I would wish as I put forward below:

Then with purpose seek to educate to be free with entertainment on the street and down in the 'Retail Therapy Parks' with great purpose as perhaps a Welsh Socialist Vanguard towards Red Action - Red Resistence - Red Revolt in time! After all the majority of Politicians, Trade Unionists, Radical Activists and people in Wales are in agreement that Wales will suffer the hardest from these cuts due to our depressing post colonial history (arguably still a colony?) of post Industrial decline(that's not disputed!).

So why 100 years after the most signifigant Workers Rising in Wales for many years, that of the 1910 Tonypandy Riots are we not to the fore in struggle and here in Wales, not tagging on to the Coat Tails of the 'London Metro Left'. Is it because after the defeat by the Tories of the 1984 - 85 Miners Strike in Wales we have become tamed and docile or maybe just sucked into the consumerist bog with our youth brainwashed by X Factor and once militant Welsh Women just reading Celeb Pulp Rubbish and the young girls fondling their mobile phones all the time, interesting the lads are more likly to have ipod's stuck to their heads? But I digress!
Mind you, it seems with a little help from their friends in the media, our Plant Crachach/CyIG are getting their act together in protecting their future employment prospects down in their Pontcanna Patagonia. Right now, I have no time for 'ShamelessS4C' nor Plant Crachach, I see their campaign to save their future prospects as more than a distraction from where Wales needs to focus most at moment and hence. Yes! in organisation and carrying out all Wales major mobalisation against Tory Act of Aggression upon Wales, our Communities and People. Worrying about 'Y Crachach' - England's Client Tribe in Wales is not on my agenda and the Welsh Left need not feel it a must to have it high on their agenda, if at all. Please do not pander to the Cultural Nationalist Crach Pacifists just to get their support for this or that Anti - War March, you don't have to! The Welsh Left needs to work out it's own 'peoples policies' for all media in Wales, not just 38 years of pretty privellaged 'ShamelessS4C' style Teledu Cymru? Ring Fenced against review and questioning by devolved democratic procedure, never again! Put all Welsh Media under scrutiny of Local Authorities and WAG Commissions.

The Plant Crachach Campaign is of course also a diversion away from the reality that there is no point in fighting for an S4C II if their rural 'Cymric Heartlands' go into a major rural decline as will be result of the Tory cuts in Local Government spending. Not only will jobs go but also services and all this will make it impossible and near enough intolerable for most young people to live and consider a future in rural Wales. Thus all this plus massive unemployment throughout Wales will mean massive depopulation and 1000's will leave Wales, Wales will bleed away it's future as our youth packs up and leaves. Already much drawn away by greater opportunities elsewhere plus of course technology encourages them to depart native hearth and heritage for new horizons with greener pastures. Not everyone, that includes the majority who attend 'Ysgolion Cymraeg' will get work with Media Cymraeg be it based in Caernarfon, Caerffyrddin or Caerdydd unless 'Media Cymraeg' is devolved and communalised as I outline in recent posts in Welsh Remembrancer:

So what's to do? for starters do not pander to Plaid Cymru nor Plant Crachach, forget 'Cultural Nationalism' as ever being fit and true allies. So
who will come up with a positive Plan of Action and Struggle for Socialists, Radical Republicans and Progressive Nationalists here in Wales? Who will lead the way forward, I look to the following for some good direction in these matters, in mean time at least discuss and debate but remember time is not with us, to launch at a May Day Rally in Llanelli 2011, a suggestion!
