Of course defending the Workers but so too were nationalists, inc Plaid Cymru in it's own not too radical but charitable way, dinner clubs to raise money for the unemployed. We could go on and on around in circles in such history point scoring but at end of the day I am not really up to defending much about Welsh Nationalism as it is. Plaid Cymru 'Crachach' Cultural Nationalism or the knee jerking patriotism of Balchder Cymru that seeks to make of young Patriots Camp Following 'Cilmeri' Crach Fodder. One last note on Spain, For some years I worked in the City of London as a Kitchen Porter, one day talking to a young Spanish Waiter I brought up the Spanish Civil War. His response was quick and sharp ''That's my parents problem, not mine!'', end of conversation leaving me kind of flabberghasted. The Anglo - Cambro - Welsh Left for all it's spouting of 'Internationalism' and 'Socilalist Self Righteousness' can at the end of it all be just so 'Bloody Brit' and damned hypocrtical to say the least. This has been the case since when I first became politically minded and active in the 'sixties', the Anglo - Left and it's Cambrian Taff Fellow Travellers would condemn oppression in South Africa but not East of the Berin Wall, march for Suez but not for Hungary. March to 'Ban the Bomb' but not to be seen on marches against drowning of Capel Celyn, only interested then and now if it's against the Military in Wales be it English, American or German. thus Greenham Common and Faslane like Aldermaston before they sound stuff!. The same is very much still true today, in main because the Plaid Crachach and Plant Crachach Pascifist Cultural Nationalists are really up to a double act on militarism with the 'Welsh Left'. That is unless it's some Islamic Fascist gunning and bombing from Iraq to Iran and all in between and beyond, just do not see the same level of interest or protest. Plus, the romance of the Cuban Revolution of course is alright as long as the guns are not going to ever get turned on Welsh Capitalists and middle class supporters, some no doubt very 'liberal'.

The book Investiture: Royal Ceremony and National Identity in Wales 1911-1969, John S. Ellis is published by University of Wales Press.As for having a go at Royalty, the Investiture 1969 seems to have passed the 'Welsh Left' by, possibly because a 'Socialist' Government was forcing another English Prince on us. However, so very different in 1911 when the Socialists of Llanelli and Merthyr were to the fore in opposition to the Investiture of that year whilst Cultural Nationalists were well up for it (Read the above book). Now it's at this point that I come to hold seperate views from Cllr Roger Price although I do know he is sound Anti - Royalist and a Patriot of good political awreness and certainly not a 'Patriotic Knee Jerker'. My view and increased understanding of Welsh History, not least between years 1848 to 1911 gets closer to what Tim Evans is saying below much of which I find hard to disagree with (see cutting).

Workers'. Recently attending attending an Anti - EDL/WDL protest, those
opposing the 'Fascists' looked like well fed middle classes, many 'Sixth
Formers' or first year students on an heady 'Revolutionary Rush'. Whilst
the 'fascists' all looked to be the great 'Welsh White Underclass' some
times referred to as 'Chavs'. Oh yea! the former waved Palestinian Flags
and the latter the Red Dragon, that tells us much. I wonder is the Left
getting on to the Welsh Council Estates be it Bangor or Barry as much as
the BNP might be. I doubt if Plaid Cymru would be bothered, though who
knows, there cannot be a 'Pontcanna Patagonia' in every Welsh Town.
Not yet anyway, one day perhaps if we do not deal with 'Y Crachach
Newydd' and the elite Cymry they would like to see come into existance
based on a Cymry of Victoria's Jubilee Year, maybe? This is where I

I am not going to be too critical of what Tim is saying here, as I am in general agreement but possibly Tim is being a bit blinkered as an 'Hwntw' might well be. All that he is saying above, fine but what about Pan Jones and Niclas y Glais and others, of rural Cymru and thus native speaking Socialists. Tim also seems to ignore the 'peasant' and 'Vagabond Quarrymen' struggles of rural Cymru and not see just 'Industrial Wales' struggles of Miners, Iron Workers, Dockers and Railway workers. By all means quote Caradog Evans and I will remind of the Cymru Fydd 'Black Leg' Red Dragon Miners Union. As for 1848 and the Blue books, feel we need some 'revisionism' here and not least regards 'Rebecca', as 1848 the great 'Welsh Not' stuff aside marks the year not of a Welsh 'Spring of Nations' but the beginnings of a very Welsh Victorian 'Bourgeoisie' Revolution. Here, I remind of Hugh Owen educator and his Southwark College whom with his mate D.A. Thomas did as much to erode 'Cymraeg' and foster 'Saesneg' as the 'Welsh Not'. As Gwyn Alf would put it 'Imperial Wales' and we could go on for ever and a day racking up the myths and misconceptions of Welsh History inc Working Class History, not least the myth of Dic Penderyn, a myth that suits both the Reformist Labour Left and Pacifist Plaid Cymru for different reasons, this is but an example of how all political persuasions can interpret history to suit their own ends. Not least the likes of Rhydian Hughes who sees 'White Eagle Flags' as symbolizing all kinds of right wing Welsh Nationalist 'Evils' being visited on his 'Socialist South'. That is not a fight, I will get into but just point out that I have always used Radical Left Flags when carrying out activities in Merthyr 1831 Commemoration promotion. As I otherwise prefer to use a Red Pitchfork flag rather than a White Eagle Cross in my protest activities regards Land and Liberty also Anti - Windmill Master Campaigns. Then, there is this fact before the 'Left' complains too much about 'Nationalist' being involved in percieved 'Left' history events. It was I and my brother that instigated the first Merthyr 1831 Commemoration, later supported by Cofiwn and following, the WSRM. We were indeed promoting 'Left' commemorations way back in the 'Sixties' to do with the Newport Chartist Rising and way before Llanelli 2011, I was with Nationalists who organised Llanelli 1911 Commemorations. long before it became a 'Socialist Must' usually tied to Grant Grabbing. In recent times, I have moved forward with events to remember Edward Morgan and Scotch Cattle and the radicals who sacked Carmarthen Workhouse and recently, I moved on researching the Vagabond Quarrymen of Gwynedd and last year I moved forward in promotion of the Amlwch Corn Riots and much else on the left side of Welsh History. In all this over all these years I have never seen anyone from within the ranks of the Anglo - Cambro Left being remotely interested or being involved let alone doing much untill recent 1910 and1911Commemorations. Thus at end of day, if BC does take an interest should we complain? too bad if the 'Welsh Left' does not show with loads of Baneri Goch and other Welsh Socialist flags:
