The Lessons of History:
The 18th Century Enclosure and Corn Riots made the rising native Bourgeoisie, for the most part then 'Petite Bourgeosie', certanily distant themselves from the peasantry. Further, such were none too interested in the radical Republicanism of Iolo Morgannwg and Morgan John Rhys, inc others as Richard Price and David Williams. Sure enough many radicals may be described as 'Petite Bourgeoisie' but with radical popular beliefs and aspirations that placed them side by side with peasantry and workers down to the day of Niclas y Glais in later times. The 18th Century largelly rural Enclousures and Corn riots would largelly pitch the common people against the Gentry and Farmers but later Farmers and Peasantry would be allies against the Crown, Gentry and their allies in the Rebecca Revolt. Although the 'Five Roads Gang' of Dai Cantwr and other radical rebels plus the attack on Carmarthen Work House would make Rebecca's leadership mindful of unleashing the 'Lower Orders'. By 1848 when a victory for the Farmers and their reformist Chartist Political allies had been advanced if not completly won, began a process where the rising Victorian native middle classes would distance themselves from more radical popular struggles. Thus no 'Spring of Nations' in Wales and neither a proposed Chartist Rebellion in Merthyr Tudful, obvious the repression of 1831 still fresh in mind.

Post 1848 Radical Popular Struggles for the most part became led by the urban Industrial Classes of Wales. Already in 1831 the Merthyr Insurrection, 1830's Scotch Cattle Rebellion and Radical Rebels of Newport 1839 had scared the largelly English Iron Masters and Coal Owners along with their native middle class allies away from being envolved in either a National or Social Revolutionary Struggle. This class hence became at best 'Cultural Nationalists' but advancing British Capitalists and thence fully supporting the English Crown and of course, the British Empire too! Above is a bit of a simplification but it does not stray far from the truth and reality of 19th into the 20th century Welsh History, see below for further information. The history we are for most part informed of, is one of the 'Blue Books/Welsh Not' which leads us into the distraction and diversion of 'Cultural Nationalism' and that history is still given greater importance than much else, not least Welsh History as I and other radicals might view it:

Radicals need to campaign now for the 'Communalisation' of the Welsh Media, starting with 'Teledu Cymraeg' not fall for holding up the Pontcanna Patagonians'. Do not be fooled or you will regret it and I will remind you of any foolishness on behalf of those who consider themselves Radical Republicans or Welsh Socialists, even radical Nationalists supporting Crachach ckass ends? That essentially is what Plant Crachach has always been about, true!
